The Pan Pacific International Exposition was held in San Francisco in 1915 and celebrated the opening of the Panama Canal. This rare and unusual 4" long sterling spoon is a miniature replica of the one that President Taft used at the groundbreaking for the fair. This shovel spoon has an American eagle in the handle. The business end has an inscription that says "used by President William Howard Taft President of the United States October 14, 1911 in turning the first spadeful of earth for the Panama Pacific International Exposition to be help in San Francisco 1915." This "spoon" is hallmarked for Shreve and in extremely good condition. Shipping to US addresses is $4.
