Collectable Canton Pattern "Petrus Regout - Maastricht" Ceramic Bowl This highly collectable 19th Century "Canton" pattern bowl is in excellent condition (no chips or cracks that I can see), and has both a "Canton - Petrus Regout" coat of arms stamp and a "P.Regout - Maastricht" imprinted stamp. In addition there is a "19" imprint mark too.Dimensions: approximately 4.75" across handle to handle, and 3.5" high Background information Petrus Regout founded his glass and pottery factory in Maastricht in 1834 and became one of the most important Dutch table ware producers in the latter half of the 19th century until WWII. Since 1890 The text MADE IN HOLLAND was added to the factory logo and in 1899 the factory was renamed to Sphinx. This bowl was likely to have been produced around 1860-70's which is known from the blind mark with "P. REGOUT MAASTRICHT" and the #19 in the middle. This mark was used between 1850 and 1870. The factory mark with decoration mark CANTON represents the ARMS of MAASTRICHT and was used between 1860 and 1880. So this item was probably produced between 1860 and 1870.
