Buy from the source, you know it's REAL!! Phil Rizzuto, known as "The Scooter,'' was the oldest living Hall of Famer. He played for the Yankees throughout the 1940s and '50s, won seven World Series titles and played in five All-star games. Rizzuto was a flashy, diminutive player who could always be counted on for a perfect bunt, a nice slide or a diving catch in a lineup better known for its cornerstone sluggers. He played for 13 seasons alongside the likes of Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle. He stood just 5-foot-6 but was equipped with a productive bat, sure hands and quick feet that earned him his nickname. A leadoff man, Rizzuto was a superb bunter, used to good advantage by the Yankee teams that won 11 pennants and nine World Series between 1941 and 1956. Rizzuto overcame his diminutive size to anchor the superb New York Yankees teams that won nine pennants and seven World Series during his 13 big league seasons. He was a durable, outstanding shortstop, skilled bunter and enthusiastic base runner with a solid .273 lifetime batting average. Rizzuto was an All-Star five times and was named the American League MVP in 1950, when he peaked with a .324 average, 200 hits and a .439 slugging percentage. After finishing out his playing days, Rizzuto went on to enjoy a long career as a Yankees broadcaster and was known to yell "Holy Cow!" whenever a Yankees player made a great play in the field or came up with a timely hit. These days, Rizzuto is retired, but he is still beloved by Yankees fans, who cheer his appearances at Old Timer's Days, Opening Days and/or post season games at Yankee Stadium.
