The Philosophy of Judging Fowls" is a 234 page, 5"x7" hardcover written by I.K. Felch & H.S. Babcock, and published in 1889 by W.D. Page in Fort Wayne, IN. It's "a manual upon the scoring of exhibition fowls; intended to meet the wants of the general breeder and the exhibitor, as well as the professional judge." The fine points of many chicken breeds are discussed, and there are b&w illustrations throughout. The book is in acceptable condition, with no dust jacket (as issued). The cloth cover has general wear and soiling, bumped/fraying corners and spine ends, the spine is heavily soiled and worn, and whatever title lettering may have existed there has faded away. The hinges are starting, and it's cracked at a few interior spots. Several pages are stained or smudged, and there's an old price in pencil on the ffep. The binding is slightly loose.
