Primitive Window Treatment Tobacco Cloth Panel ~ An Authentic Replica of an Early Textile ~ ~ Woven in USA ~ Finally! By popular demand, our weaver has created historically accurate window treatments in the Primitive style! Tobacco cloth is a very old fabric with a lot of whimsy. It is a lightweight, thin, loosely woven fabric of un-dyed cotton in a open weave similar to cheesecloth. Historically, it was used for pretty much everything, as shade covering for tobacco plants, for crinolines, tea bags, bandages and even curtains! This unique panel has a tab on the bottom for tying up on the left or right. The color is a light ash-brown. For a very primitive look, try hanging the panel on jute twine instead of a rod. Many choose to hang as is or SOAK in cold water for 20 minutes, wring out, and line dry. Fabric will shrink to the sizes indicated. The look will be a slightly crinkled, soft, worn look - very primitive! This panel is size 40"x45" AFTER SOAKING. Measures 54” long without soaking. It is suitable for up to a 36” wide window. Two other sizes are available by special order (please visit our Online store): 40"x63" $30.00ea40"x71" $35.00ea Due to high demand, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery for special order sizes.
