is a wonderful rare hen server by Fenton. This dish is in the wonderful milk glass with amethyst color. You can see this in Margaret & kenn Whitmyer "Fenton Art Glass" book.....Fenton had great color combinations and ways to mix glass.......... This Amethyst with milk glass hen was produced around 1950....This piece is also very heavy with such beautiful detail and color.....Looks beautiful displayed anyw...... Only a few other pieces w produced with this color combination..... The base measures a fabulous 12.75 inches long by 11 inches wide.......T is some basic strawmarks due to the making of the glass and some mold roughness.....T are a few small flea bites or small grazing nicks on the scalloped inner edge of base......nothing that takes away from this wonderful piece.Very hard to see unless under close inspection..... It is amazing at the work on this base piece with all the holders for the eggs and the wheat etching around each egg holder.......The weight on this is incredible, must of looked fabulous on the dinner table....... The cover it self is so beautiful..... Measures 6"tall and has this amazing amethyst color that blends with the milk glass.....T are no cracks but does have a few inconspicous nicks on the tail (these do not go through the whole tail) and also has a small flat grazing nick on the breast. Impossible to see! . Also has some minor mold roughness..... The beak and crest are in excellent condition also. I see no utensil marks, scratches or bottom wear......The glass is clean and shines beautifully........I would say these few problems that I mentioned came from storage rather than use. This is such a magnificent piece with such strong art appeal..... Fenton is at the top of his glass making and you can see why !!!!! I have used this and it does look awesome when it is in used and the compliments are incredible......They have this estimated at $300-$350 in the book. Am selling with no reserve also. Any questions please e-mail. Due to the weight of the piece and it is very heavy it cannot be combined in shipping......International bidders need to wait for invoice before making payment. Thanks
