Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps, and Buckles, Working Lock & Key and Original Interior Tray Here is a really beautiful large refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. This one is a true flat top with no factory arch. Here are the trunk's measurement s: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches, from floor to top is 24 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 inches. This beautiful trunk appears to be made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older distress marks on the wood in various places. These markings include older nicks and dings along with some stress cracks. Just abou tall of the trunks that we refinish and offer on ebay have similar distress marks since these trunks are old and have been in existence for a very long time. Who knows how many railroad stations and trains this trunk may have been on in the past. This flat top comes with the original signed and patent dated working lock. It is signed, "Eagle Lock Co Terryville CT Pat'd Dec 6 1892". We do have a close up picture showing the date and signature on the lock. We have matched up a key that does work properly in this lock.
