DENISE CHAVARRIA , from the SANTA CLARA PUEBLO , is the daughter of well-known potter, Stella Chavarria and the granddaughter of the famed potter, Teresita Naranjo . Following in their footsteps, DENISE CHAVARRIA creates traditional pottery using the handcoiled method and outdoor firing used by her ancestors. Most of her early works of art reflected the work of her mother and grandmother. More recently she has developed her own style which has brought her numerous awards, including several at the Santa Fe Indian Market . She is also listed in several publications and has been creating pottery for more then 16 years. She states that her favorite part of pottery making is "building and polishing the pottery". This piece shows the swirl pattern on most on the pottery, finished off with kiva steps . This redware measures 4 3/4" X 3 1/2". It is in MINT condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, etc. It retails for $240.00 and more. S & H, including insurance is $12.50 .
