This is a Gorgeous older carved wood and gourd rattle from the Piaroa Indians of the Amazon Jungle, Venezuela, South America. The Piaroa (De'aruwa) use such rattles in shamanic ritual and ceremonial dances. This is a large and beautifully incised rattle, the finest we have ever acquired, and it measures 11 inches tall and 4 inches wide.
