Description: As part of Catholic religious tradition, solid silver milagroâe(tm)s were often offered to a saint as a reminder of a petitioner's particular need, or in gratitude for prayers answered. After several weeks or months, the milagro was removed from the church Alter or statue, and stored; most were eventually sold as scrap-silver, melted down, and recycled. It was a source of income for the church. The milagro on auction is part of a convents antique collection, that for many years had been stored and forgotten; they are on consignment for auction. It is hand fashioned from thick silver, according to the instructions given to the silversmith by the petitioner. It weighs 16 grams of acid tested SOLID SILVER (not platted), and its size is 2.25"X2" . The milagro was left anonymously, so the auction title is the convents description to us of what the petitioner may have asked for, or received. Good luck bidding!
