DESCRIPTION Japanese Tea Ceremony "KARATSU-YAKI(ware)"CHAWAN(tea bowl). w/box @t832 This comes with an original wooden box. *Karatsu-ware : Karatsu ware is pottery fired in Karatsu-shi, Saga . It is said "first- Raku , second- Hagi , third- Karatsu " for a long time and is famous as tea ceremony pottery. It is specified to a Japanese traditional craftwork. Because Karatsu was a foreign trade foothold for a long time, technique of pottery was handed down from the Azuchimomoyama era (1568-1600). Everyw of Saga is dotted with kiln traces now. The name of Karatsu ware depends on having been done from Karatsu Port in the case of Karatsu ware shipping. But it was about 1600 that Karatsu ware began in earnest, and it was an opportunity that the potters who have been taken in large quantities at this time by Korea initiated techniques.
