DESCRIPTION Japanese Tea Ceremony "KARATSU-YAKI(ware)"CHAWAN(tea bowl). w/box @t832 This comes with an original wooden box. *Karatsu-ware : Karatsu ware is pottery fired in Karatsu-shi, Saga . It is said "first- Raku , second- Hagi , third- Karatsu " for a long time and is famous as tea ceremony pottery. It is specified to a Japanese traditional craftwork. Because Karatsu was a foreign trade foothold for a long time, technique of pottery was handed down from the Azuchimomoyama era (1568-1600). Everyw of Saga is dotted with kiln traces now. The name of Karatsu ware depends on having been done from Karatsu Port in the case of Karatsu ware shipping.
