Three Asante, Ashanti, Akan Gold Weights in the form of a bunch of bananas, a face mask of a bull/cow and a naturalistic twig. These weights, made of brass/bronze using the lost wax casting process come in an extraordinary array of shapes and sizes. Some were cast from natural objects such as seed pods whilst others were figurative or of elaborate geometric form. The ones offered show considerable age with a lovely worn smooth darkened patina. The bananas are in a row of 6 topped with a row of 5. The casting looks ancient with oxidisation in the dips and ware on the raised surfaces, length 48mm. The bull mask which is 28mm in length has stylistic horns to the front and ears to the side. It too has an aged patina. The twigs are beautifully cast with a worn soft smooth patina, length 41mm. Shipping in the UK will be £3.50 Royal Mail First Class Standard. International rates may vary but the item will be shipped at cost to the winning bidder. If more than one item is won I am happy to combine shipping charges.
