This panel is unused, so no seam lines. Kinran is a special cloth woven for use in Temples & other ceremonial purposes. Very similar to one l have listed before - same design, but a couple of shades darker on the colours l think. This is woven in Gold Metallic Thread & most likely a synthetic silk rather than pure silk - its less easily cut through & frayed by the Metallic Threads than pure silk in a lovely warm Copper - part matt & part glossy. As a Kinran this is firm & crisp bodied to hold its shape, though this one is not as heavy as most - its woven quite finely & is a little translucent when held up to the light. The design is lovely, beautiful Lotus Leaves & blooms in Gold rising from stylised Water current patterns & scrolling tendrils & other leaf shapes. As a woven design, the back is the reverse colourway to the front & l have photographed both sides, which are equally usable, so you have 2 complementary fabrics in 1. Please note, this panel has a horizontal band approx. 1 inch wide in plain weave half way down. The condition is as new. This piece is 15 ins wide x 40 ins long. Kinrans are hard to find, especially unused & in such pristine condition. Gorgeous. Most of my fabrics are sourced from Japan for my own handicraft projects & l sell my excess, so if you see one you like, please bid - it may be the only piece like read more
