A. Van Ostade - Old Woman Spinning - Etching Old Woman Spinning - etched David Deuchar after Adrian Van Ostade. Etching on wove paper and printed in 1803 in Scotland. Signed in the block by artist.Sheet measures 8'' by 6 4/8'' and the plate size (which is very close to image size) is 7 4/8'' by 5 2/8''.There are 3-4 water spooting marks on paper, please see pic closely. Can be cleaned easily. Please read: We are not certain of theyear of this etching. Also, we cannot confirm that this is actually by Ostade himself but this is his image and can be a later impression. Adriaen van Ostade (1610 – 1685) Painter and Etcher of The Golden Age best noted for his genre scenes in oils and etchings. According to Houbraken, he and his brother were pupils of Frans Hals and like him, spent most of their lives in Haarlem. He was the eldest son of Jan Hendrix Ostad, a weaver from the town of Ostade.
