What a beauty! Hand-blown opaline green vaseline glass bride's basket resembles Jadeite in color, but it's lighter in weight and has a delicate ring when tapped. Don't know the maker...could be any of the early Victorian art glass companies, but I've seen similiar enameling on Hobbs Brockunier pieces. Decorated not only with embossed five-petaled flowers along the rim, but the entire interior has hand-painted enameling of gold leaves and tiny pink, purple and white flowers. Backlight it with a strong light, it's got an orange fluoresence. Black light it and it glows the most awesome neon green. The raised flowers are embossed on top but impressed into the glass at the bottom---see pic 3. The scalloped edges are in excellent condition, as is the whole bowl---no chips or cracks and only very minor loss to the gold paint outlining some of the flowers. Polished pontil on the bottom is marked 7754 in an old-fashioned way...no other marks. Measures 10.5" across and 1.75" high, with a raised bottom rim made to fit into a frame of sorts. Beautiful older piece, with all the right stuff! Shipped within five business days of receiving payment, which will include delivery confirmation and insurance. I mostly accept Paypal, but other forms of payment (cks or MOs) are OK, too. Please read the fine print below---it will explain how I run my auctions---but read more
