VINTAGE c.1900 SODA FOUNTAIN "ICE CREAM CAKE CONE" DISPENSER JAR This is the earliest of the Ice cream cone jars that would have been seen at the turn of the last century sitting on the counter of your local Soda fountain ready to dispense those rich cake cones! Notice the early spindle knob at the top of the lid that would pull the cones from the jar! The later examples that were used in the 20's & 30's had a stationary knob at the lid's top! This jar is made of exceptionally thick heavy glass & is nice & clear without any fogginess whatsoever that is quite typical of these pieces! There are assorted strawmarks & wavyness to the glass typical of commercial glass of this era & there are 2 small manufacturing "inclusions" that appear as black marks but can not be felt on either side of the glass walls! This piece measures 14" tall to the top of the knob & 6" in width & is remarkably heavy! The rim at the top is nice & smooth without any fleabites or chips! Just an extraordinary piece from the early days of the Soda fountain! This piece has been in my collection since the early 1970's! Would be virtually impossible to find a cleaner crisper example! Would make a wonderful addition to any Soda fountain, Ice cream parlor,Diner,Luncheonette,Drugstore, Apothecary,Malted milk,Syrup dispenser, syrup bottle or vintage Straw holder read more
