Here on offer is a stunning vintage art deco Canning Decoro earthenwareflower trough, dating to between 19230 and 1930 . TheCanning Pottery was established in Canning Street, Fenton between 1896 and 1907, there is some dispute as to the exact date, this belonged to RH & SL Plant. Canning’s principle production was teapots and jugs. In 1923 they registered the trade mark ‘DECORO’ with the registration number 429479, this number appears on the bottom of Decoro pieces and must not be confused with a registered design number. Under the Decoro mark they produced a range of wares that had an all-over decoration in dark jewel colours, the production of these pieces stopped in 1930, when they started to produce ‘Decoro Flame’ wares with a striated glaze. The factory ceased production in about 1935. This superb example of a Decoro flower trough has richly painted stylied floral design in dark rich colours. The design has a wonderfully dynamic quality that is typical of art deco pieces. The interior has a glossy black glaze. The trough has vertical walls with a stylised scrolling shape and has two integral feet. The flower trough is offered in excellent condition without any damage, it measures about 29.5cm by 13cm by 12.8cm and weighs 1438g. A wonderful collectable. Pease see my pictures for the details of the condition. Thanks for looking read more
