Up for auction is a vintage to antique lidded box. It is a two (2) piece cylindrical shaped container base with lid made of cloisonne over brass to copper metal measuring 2 3/8" in diameter x 3 1/8" tall with a weight of 4.33oz on a digital scale prior to packing. The exterior is a floral, poppy seed head and foliate design in colors of red, pink, white, two shades of green and a banding of black along the lid's edge and a single touch of it on the body of the container...imposed on a deep aqua zig-zagged ground. The near flat inner foot at the bottom and the interior of the box are in a matched opaque medium blue glass enamel and I see no damages inside or out. Purchased from a local Alameda estate of a gentlemen who served in the Navy overseas during WWII. He had a rather large collection of vintage (when he bought it) cloisonne at his sale. I was told that all of it, the cloisonne, was bought by him and brought back from Japan but I assure you even though this piece is unmarked it is of Chinese origin...no matter w it was purchased, follow? Uncertain as to its original use I would suspect tobacco/cigarettes, tea or incense related and it is not new and just a bit older than the other 2 part box I have up for auction that is photoed in the last pic. I think this piece is easily prior to 1925. Please refer to photos for your take read more
