Old handmade Indonesian copper batik printing block. Frame measures 9 x 11 inches. The block itself measures 5.5 x 8 inches. Used in the manufacturing of Indonesian Batik cloth. This type of batik cloth stamp is not fitted with a wooden handle. It was intended to be mounted into a larger frame with other such blocks. The process involved having molten wax and dyes were poured down through the framed in stages in order to separte the colors in the patterns. These blocks are beautifuly handmade with intricate detail. This one has been professionaly framed for wall decor. Note the fancy tropical bird figure with feathers and spread wings.
