Hand carved of fossilized ivory, this piece is signed on bottom (hard to photograph) "Jerry Wongittilin Nome Alaska O Box2) ". I bought this from Jerry in Nome, Alaska while I worked t He would stop by to show me his carvings and would sell them sometime between 1975 and 1980. The base is L3 1/2" x W 2" x H 1/2" - the seal is L 2 3/4" x W 1 1/2" x H 1/2". It weighs 4.8 ounces. This is a very unique piece. It is NOT carved from 1 piece of ivory, the seal is attached to the base with glue, I assume. The seal is in a resting position, much like seen on the beaches of Alaska as they sun themselves. Please look closely at the photos to judge condition. It has not been repaired and all irregularities are typical of ivory. Thank you for looking. Buyer pays shipping and handling. US shipping only.
