This listing is for an impressive two-piece set of mid-century art glass from Higgins. Higgins Glass was formed in 1948 and was known for its fused art glass designs that are "Kandinsky-esque." Pieces of Higgins art glass are found in museums, including the Chicago Art Institute. This set is in a rich purple color with a blue and yellowish-green abstract design. The bowl sits nicely in the middle of the plate/tray/charger, or the two pieces can be used separately. The bowl measures 12 inches in diameter at the top and it is about 3 inches deep. The underplate or charger is an impressive 16 inches in diameter. Both pieces are signed and they are in pristine condition. Our items are typically pre-owned, vintage or antique and will show the signs of normal use or wear. However, we make every effort to note any exceptions to normal wear. While evaluation of each item is subjective, we attempt to describe the condition as accurately as possible, noting both obvious and subtle damage. We also try to provide good representations of items through our photographs, which should be checked carefully for evidence of an item's condition. We generally do not use stock photos - so the photographs with a listing are usually of the item up for auction.Payment is expected within 5 days of an auction's close.
