CDC Vintage Shibata Porcelain Japanese Rectangular Pheasant Platter CDC NM With the holidays coming, this truly beautiful plate would make a lovely gift for the collector of fine Japanese decorative pieces. M N This exquisite platter is a vintage Shibata porcelain piece dating to about 1970. It is a substantial piece weighing over 3 pounds. The image on the back of the platter identifies it as Shibata porcelain. This would be a beautiful addition to your home décor if you have an interest in Japanese art or collectibles. It is striking standing in a bookcase or on a table with a plate stand (not included), or lit in a curio cabinet. The platter is rectangular with curved corners, with a wide border in a rust color decorated with gold patterns. The colorful image on the platter is of pheasants, with chrysanthemums and cherry blossoms against a white background. Please see the photos for close-ups of the platter. Both chrysanthemums and cherry blossoms are important in Japanese culture.
