Beckmann has been based in San Miguel de Allende for many years and is known for her unique and quite beautiful designs. Her early work surfaces occasionally and this is quite a nice piece to have come across. The pin is certainly the most unusual and extravagant piece I've ever had the fortune to acquire of Beckmann's work. It's a big piece and is in the face of a devil mask with sharp, pointed horns and red garnet eyes. The piece is so detailed and realistic down to the pointed fangs below and unfurling tongue and the jutting nose! This is quite a statement piece and a MUST for a collector of unusual Mexican Silver work. Done in sterling silver, the pin closes on the back with a well working safety clasp. Wonderful!This is early work, according to Carol who has known Ms. Beckmann since the 50's, the BEKMANN stamp was the earliest used.
