A letter dated December 13th 1915 (see four pictures) consisting of two pages sent from Richard Acland Armstrong to his parents in Manchester. Armstrong, volunteered for non - military service with the Friends' Ambulance Unit of the Red Cross. He served on the front line in France as an Ambulance/Support vehicle driver. I believe that later in the war he became a Lieutenant. This letter is one of a collection of circa 40, spanning the period November 1915 to October 1918, mostly written from the front.Within the collection are some related photographs, and a few later letters and photographs which I will be listing over the next few weeks. Original World War One letters are now quite scarce and they are highly collectable. This example is legible and in good condition.
