These are wonderfully crafted nickel metal plated model cars of this post war streamlined passenger engine that served on what became America’s most popular train. The cars feature interior lighting and prototypical interior detailing with window treatments. On March 20, 1949 with the easing of war time restrictions, a new age in streamliners dawned as the California Zephyr entered revenue service. The train, which became one of America’s finest and most famous passenger service train, was jointly operated by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, Pennsylvania (not all of the CZ cars went to NY), Denver & Rio Grande Western and the Western Pacific. Dubbed as the People’s Train by many, the CZ served faithfully to thousands of passengers from 1949 until 1970.
