WW1 Trench Art - French soldier's floral "porte-plume"pen/letter opener holder, engraved with initials "R M" Opportunity to own a collectable Great War Trench Art relic, being a Poilu's porte-plume (French soldier's pen and letter opener writing holder).Crafted from two inert bullets welded together, these open to reveal an ink-dip nib holder for the writing of letters, messages, poems etc. (nib needed, if so desired...), and a small letter opener, or general purpose blade.The casings have been engraved with some flowers, and oak leaves with a single acorn - also a small lucky four-leafed clover. The soldier's own initials or those of his sweetheart/loved one are also engraved, being "R M"..... Measures appx. 16cm long, this memory item from World War 1 would make a good addition to add value and interest to any militaria or writing collection.
