Genuine, authentic, original hand signed Rohr War photograph of Luftwaffe Ace Oberst Walter Oesau. Oesau was among the most highly decorated German Air Force Flying Aces of WW2. Oesau flew in combat during the Spanish Civil War in Legion Condor for which he received the highest German bravery award, the Spanish Cross in Gold with Swords and Diamonds. Later, Oesau would be in combat during the Battles of France, Britain, Operation Barbarossa and the Defense of the Reich. On May 11, 1944, his plane would be shot down, and Oesau was killed after Goering accused him of laziness. Because of his extreme personal bravery and successful military leadership, he was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds, one of only 27 German soldiers to receive this high honor during the War. The sepia color Rohr postcard size photograph shows Oesau as a Major in the Luftwaffe, wearing his Knights Cross with Oakleaves and Swords award, and has been signed by Oesau in black fountain pen ink below his image. The reverse side is unused/unmailed with the normal Rohr hallmarks and backstamps. In very good condition. I have been a member of the Manuscript Society since 1956 and am selling part of my collection. See my other Ebay offers.
