One of the better baseballs I have seen from this era. The seal is still attached to the box, but it has been cut precisely to open the box--not I but someone else. The baseball is wrapped in original paper and is snow white. The American League "official" stamp with the signature of William Harridge, Pres. is a bit lighter and just slightly blurrier than the offical Reach stamp just below it: no big deal at all. This is a manufacturer's defect, and I have seen the same condition numerous times on these balls from the late 30s and early 40s. The ball, although the box has been opened, obviously has not been handled much and has not seen the the light for any period of time. It's a beauty for the collector of vintage balls. For your information, this baseball represents the new baseball brought into play in 1931. It has slightly higher seams than its predecessor, giving the pitchers a bit of an advantage. It also used rubber to wrap around the cork, slightly deadening the ball. This is, for the most part, the ball that is used today. Will Harridge was President of the American League from 1931-1958. Good Luck bidding. Payment is expected within three (3) days of the close of auction or the item will be relisted or offered to the next bidder. S&H is $10. Insurance optional for another $5.00
