1705 De Fer Map - Huy Nicolas De Fer was the official geographer to the French king as well as being a successful publisher "dans l'Isle du Palais sur le Quay de l'Orloge a la Sphere royale' in Paris. Among his many atlases was his 'Introduction de la Fortification..' first issued in 1693 and showing the defensive sites of major European cities. This nicely detailed copperplate engraved map of Huy, Liege, comes from a 1705 issue of that atlas. The map illustrates the fortifications of the city and a bridge across the Meuse river, and the title cartouche provides a brief description of the town. The map measures 11" by 6", has wash hand colouring, and is in very good condition. The map is guaranteed to be over 300 years old. Shipping United States - Regular airmail $4.50US.
