More probable in usage was the fact that candleholders such as this would have served to be hung from a variety of locations in a home, off beams, top rungs of ladder back chairs, etc.The single wax or tallow candlecup on this example has been expertly formed by a period blacksmith with a coiled 'beehive' style, more notable in this example is a wider pattern to the coiling.
