Antique 18th Century Wrought Iron Loom Light Hanging Candleholder 1700's Metal Description: Charming 18th Century Iron New England Loom Light Nice Example of a hanging candleholder, New England in original origin, circa 1760-1790. Candleholders such as this are often referred to as "Loom Lights" as women supposably use to suspend the top hook of the example on a fabric loom to weave past sunset. More probable in usage was the fact that candleholders such as this would have served to be hung from a variety of locations in a home, off beams, top rungs of ladder back chairs, etc. The single wax or tallow candlecup on this example has been expertly formed by a period blacksmith with a wrapped around coiled "beehive" shape. Also of note in design is the twist elements the blacksmith placed on the center shaft. Take a moment to Some slight pitting from age, though overall very good original condition. Measures approximately 15" long. This spendid exampleo of period lighting is being offerd for one week with no reserve. Thanks for visiting Foxrun-Farms, now in our 14th year on ebay!
