Here is the 1962 Gilbert American Flyer Championship Airplane! This is a vintage gas powered control line airplane produced in 1962 by Gilbert, famous for Erector sets! It is still in its original box! Inside the display box is the plane, old battery (probably dead), empty gas can, instruction sheets, unused decal sheet, exploded view instructions, Model Airplane Academy flying license and more! Even has the original retail display instructions for the store owner on how to display the toy in the store!Plane measures approx. 20" long with a wingspan of approx. 24". It boasts the powerful Thunderhead .11 engine with silencer, automatic co-pilot control and engineered for safety. Plane was made in Connecticut USA.Condition is very very good overall but when cleaning the dust off it I discovered a crack in the underbelly of the fuselage as shown. Probably flown once and put back in the box? Plane has nice bright colors for being stored over 55 years! Box is pretty nice with sharp graphics, some tears to the box as shown and some tape. Battery of course is dead. Gas can has some rust and is empty. I see the handle but no control line. Propeller is there but I did not see the nut to hold it on. You are getting everything shown in the photos....Please note, this is a large plane in a large 24"x24"x10" original box, will weight around 8 read more
