1965 Christmas Sterling Spoon and Fork , Denmark Silver Gold Plate This is a Christmas set, spoon and fork, from 1965. It is gold plate on sterling silver, with an enamel design on the handles of the spoon and fork. The design is Christmas Tree, and the artist is Tsia Hvorslev (signed TH). On the back of the spoon and fork you can see the Christmas date (Jul) 1954 and "A. MICHELSEN STERLING DANMARK". Each piece measures about 6 ½" long. These pieces have been used, but are in nice condition. They are definitely a collectors' item, but equally can be used for dessert and look wonderful and festive set on a table. The production of these sets of Annual Christmas cutlery started in 1910 by Anton Michelsen, a Danish Crown Jeweler. Each year he employed a local artist each year to design a new Christmas set of 24K gold plate on sterling silver. T is an enamel design on each spoon and fork, special for that year. His business continued production until Georg Jensen took over the production of the annual Christmas cutlery in 2003.
