A beautiful RARE walnut and gold gilt picture frame stamped with a date of 1871. The frame consists of three layers. The outer layer constructed of walnut includes decorative grooves to create a depth effect with the frame. The next, middle layer is a flat walnut layer with an inward groove leading to an oval shaped opening. The third, innermost layer is a gold gilded circular trim. The interior dimensions (rabbet size) fits square images approximately 8.3'' x 10''. The oval has a 9'' x 7'' opening. The overall frame is approximately 12.5'' x 14.5''. It's in great condition for its age. Very minimal scratches and chips. Gold layer loose in frame with cracking on top and bottom. Refer to all images for condition.This frame is dated circa 1870's. It's perfect for Victorian, Eastlake, Edwardian, Traditional, Civil War art, antique prints, oil paintings and for late 1800's decors.
