Stager - of Mount Joy c.1850DESCRIPTIONOver the years we have sold several coverlets by Henry F. Stager, both signed and unsigned. He was quite a prolific weaver, and many of his fine coverlets still exist in local homes here in the South Eastern part of Pennsylvania.This one was woven in True Beiderwand, a beauty with vibrant colors.is It is signed across the bottom edge:Manuf. By H.F.Stager + Son Fast ColorMount Joy Lancaster County PENNA Handsome Coverlet in'True' Beiderwand Weave StructureThis is a rather rare Henry Stager coverlet, since it was made in the rarely found compound weave structure of true Beiderwand.Most Pennsylvania weavers of this era, including Stager, wove in 'tied' Beiderwand technique.
