This majolica Caugant tureen is in practically perfect condition. An handsome buck reclining comfortably. It measure some 10 inches long by 4 inches wide by 9.5 inches tall. Most all Caugant tureens are made in Portugal ( a well known secret is that the Portuguese are geniuses when it comes to manufacturing Majolica) under license for theFrench market. Michel Caugant was a resauranter/chef known for his delectible patés. He had all sorts of different realistic animal themed tureens created for the corresponding dish based on that animal. I think they make great candy dishes...it certainly is more cheerful! It is signed on the bottom " this piece of veritable pottery was entirely hand made and is exclusively offered to you by Michel Caugant. Shipping is for priority airmail from France.
