Old Pig Tusk Currency Pigs are penned and hand fed for over a year to obtain these full round tusks. The pens quite often are over the water in the lagoon so the pigs cannot dig and wear away the tusk. Pigs are used for bride price payments and after the feast the tusks are used as currency and costume. This tusk is 3.5" high and wide and .5" thick and stands 6.5" high on its custom display stand. Field collected in 2007. Lesley Martin has been importing art from Papua New Guinea for 26 years. Lesley was born and raised in Wewak on the Sepik Coast.
