Found at a brocante {flea market} in the south of France, a large vintage (circa 1930s) hand blown thick green glass wine jug/demijohn encased in woven willow (wicker). Original thick cork. Distinct weave in the wicker creates a unique design. Wonderful aged patina. No cracks or chips to glass opening/neck. Thick braided handle is sturdy. Bottom is intact. Demijohn wine jugs were encased in wicker to keep the contents in the bottle cool. Measures 18 inches tall with a base diameter of 9 inches graduating to 12 inches at the top. We love these {as do the decorators} vintage wicker encased bottles (demijohns) displayed on a fireplace hearth, perched on a buffet table or kitchen counter. Very reasonable price; we've seen these for sale in high-end antique shops for much more! Shipped within the USA via FedEx.
