Up for auction are 2 Guffey Birdstones. I am sure you all have heard the story about the maker, Guffey. They were made in the 1940's. The longest bird is made out of a type of slate and is made decently. It is 4" long and has a fantail on it. It has been glued to a board at the bottom. It is drilled and is 1" tall by 1/2" thick. Some people say Guffey used only sandstone, but he also used a low form of slate as well. The other board is an animal style bird that is made out of a type of limestone. It is drilled and the back hole is broken out on this bird. It is 7/8" wide by 3-1/2" long. These are both Reproductions. They are made by the famous maker Guffey.
