This is a handcrafted tomahawk, made in the Native American style, for decorative purposes only. The maker is unknown. I don't know what type of wood it is. The stone has been secured to the wooden shaft with brown leather strapping. At each of the ends of the strap, t is a large wooden bead (one tan & one brown) and a feather tuft. The wood shaft is unique in that sometime during the growth and on its own, the bark has separated and t are several pointed oval places. Looks like a shiny polyurethane coating has been added to the wood to preserve it. Really nice piece for your wall or over your mantel. This was newly crafted when purchased, and has been in storage since we closed the gift shop. This measures 20" long. The stone is triangle shaped & measures about 4¾" down each of the longest sides and about 3¼" wide at the end. The other end is a blunt point. This weighs a little over 1 pound, before packaging for shipping, so may ship at the 2-3 pound weight Priority Mail, since the USPS now rounds weight up to the next whole number, and the packaging for this weighs a little more.
