Hopi Famous Artist Josh Huma is from First Mesa(old Hopi Village)Northeastern Arizona.The Racer Snake ( Situnini ) is a guardian and a disciplinary god. He appears at the Bean ( Powamuya ) and the Day Dances. His duty is to patrol the dances and guard the dancer. He watches over the ceremonies. This particular katsina incorporates parrot and pheasant feathers in the headdress. This Old Style Racer Snake kachina Wallhanger is 14 in. x 3.25 in. wide, at the Headdress 9.5 in. wide. I know Josh and all the Hopi Artists work, I collect from. Brand new Kachina, made from cotton wood root, retail price $ 300.00 !
