This is a Japanese sword in mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca.1940 era made hand forged gendai blade. The blade is old polish, shows aged flea-bite rust but no deep rust and in good condition. There is no nick, no bend, no opening, no crack temper and cutting edge is sharp. The temper line is wavy notare temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep full temper at the tips. The forging grain is tight itame-hada and no opening, no forging flaws at all. The scabbard is Edo period made urushi lacquered scabbard with copper kojiri , shows minor re-lacquered but no dent, no crack and in decent condition. The handle is recently made handle, tight fit and no cut, no loose and in good condition. The tsuba is Edo period made marugata iron tsuba with nice patina. It measures 27" tip to the end of habaki, 26 1/4" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 7.5mm thickness at the notch, 7/8" curvature and 38+1/4" in mountings. This is good for cutting test or iaido practice sword. Shipping is $20 priority in U.S. payment due within 3 days auction end.
