Fabulous antique Victorian era bowl done in the JAPANESE AESTHETIC style with mixed metals, shakudo like. The bowl looks to be made of copper, with highly detailed raised flowers and main subject of a Japanese lady with a birdcage, the details are beautiful, even the kimonos patterns are raised. The beautiful flowing chrysanthemum flowers are in different metal colors of silver, brass and pinks, Im not sure if these are true inlaid metals or just a treatment on the base metal of what looks to be copper, however it is done it is quality and gorgeous. I have not cleaned this fine bowl, it has probably has not been cleaned for the last 80 years if not longer. It is heavy with a solid centre and the wide edges being decorated with openwork in between the flowers and branches. It measures about 7 inches across. It is truly beautiful and would be a fine addition to your Oriental collection.
