I don't have a clue what this is, I hope that someone out t in the Rookwood World can tell me. Do to my research I know that Faience is a fine tin glaze that is thought to be invented by Iran or some group in the middle east around the 9th century. This invention was considered to be a major accomplishment, the first paintable pottery glaze. As you will see on the back side of this piece, impressed is Rookwood Faience 82368 2R. It measures 10 1/4" x 7 1/2" x 2 3/4". With all the books and info on the internet, I could'nt find anythig like this. All that I can tell you is that it appears to be very very old. If you have any questions or would like more photos please email me. I also have other items listed, Royal Copenhagen, Nippon, Warwick, Shirly Temple Composite Doll and others. Check out my other items ! Thank You For Looking!!! and Happy Bidding!!! leo9235 I had a helpful, knowledagable eBayer tell me that after 1910 they changed the style of the faience tiles so they were less like cement and more like what we think of floor tile today. That would date this piece before 1910. Thanks again to my fellow eBayer!
