This religious statue of Saint Peter, sitting and holding the key to heaven, was a Vatican Souvenir from the 1950 Jubileeby The Venerable Pope Pius XII. He was the 260th Pope, head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City State, from 1939 until his death in 1958. It's a reliquary made from faux marble. The rear has an area to hold an insert of religious materials (not included). This reliquary statuette issued to commemorate the ceremonial festivities uniformly maintained every twenty five years (with minor exception) from 1450 until the twentieth century.There are inscriptions on each side: Front says S. PETRUS.AP right side says MADE IN ITALY back says A.JUBILAEI MCML, which means Jubilee Year 1950 Left side says RIP.
