Different kinds of bone have been used for a long time for scrimshaw. Since it is a little more porous than other ivories it is not quite as smooth, but it makes a very nice piece. This item is a cow bone book mark beautifully scrimmed by Donna Ruprecht. It measures apprx. 1/2" wide and is 3 " long and is a lot thicker than the piano key book marks and very rugged. So if you like my scrim this is the same quality work just done on a different medium. I have been doing scrim for almost 30 years. If you would like to have anything specific done, let me know and I will put it on auction for you to bid on. Each piece is hand done individually. I love doing this and as you will see with my other listings there is a wide variety of nautical scenes and other designs. All are lsited at a very good price for scrim.
