Handmade, Native-American Dolls w/miniature Rug Although these dolls and mini rug were purchased by the consigner in the 1970s, I have been told that they are older than that and probably were made sometime between 1930 to 1950. For young doll collectors or budding anthropologists, here are 3 handcrafted, miniature dolls with one tiny Indian rug, perfect to start or continue a collection of handmade/folk art dolls or for a shadowbox display or a school project. Native American Maiden Doll, 6 inches tall with 3x5 inch Rug/Blanket. These three dolls and blanket were purchased from the 1970's estate sale of an avid doll collector. Pocahontas and her blanket may not have started life together, but they seem to be appropriately paired now. The doll is 6 inches tall, handmade of leather, cloth and beads, while the rug seems to be an example of very fine hand-weaving. There's a small stain on the front of the dress, but I didn't want to use a cleaner that might damage the leather or spoil its patina. Not the typical, touristy type of doll one sees in a "Trading Post," but one that would be a delightful addition to a collection of miniatures or an Easter basket surprise.
