VINTAGE ROLLER SKATING PHOTOGRAPH BICYCLE SKATES is an incredible and large new print of a rare roller skating photograph. The photograph was done in 1905. A young man, apparently dressed in the skate clothes of the day, is shown on a unique pair of roller skates. A pair of shoes have been attached to two platforms, each of which has a front and back wheels—hence the name “bicycle skates”. These type of skates would have required an ability to balance that was far beyond the requirements of four-wheel skates. Perhaps this is a picture of the very first skateboards. This picture so perfectly captures the early 1900s and the era’s love of all things mechanical. The caption at the bottom reads: “Young Man On Bicycle Skates 1905”. We have several vintage roller skating photos in our store. This print is on a quality 24# parchment-like paper that gives the appearance of having naturally aged. The actual image measures 10.5” (w) X 16.5” (h). The paper is 17” (w) x 11” (h). Tfore, it has a small border to allow for framing.
