An 18th C., Wrought Iron Standing or Hanging Candleholder This is a fine early lighting piece from an 18th C. Private, Pennsylvania Collection. It was designed to hold two candles for increased illumination. The forward candle socket operates witha spring action,photo #5. The triangular-shaped drip pan is supported with three small legs that turn up at the ends, photo #6. The large rear hook was use for hanging the candleholder. A small snuff hook is located on the inner part of the candleholder, photo #8. The candle snuff does not date to the period of the candleholder. The candleholder is in excellent condition.
